Located in Summerville’s vibrant Nexton Square, Poogan’s Southern Kitchen is the sister restaurant to Charleston’s iconic Poogan’s Porch, a place known for its deep Lowcountry roots and a storied past that includes more than a few ghostly whispers. While these four walls aren’t home to any friendly spirits (that we know of), they are filled with the same spirit of Southern hospitality that’s made Poogan’s a household name since 1976.
Since opening in November 2020, we’ve become a go-to for comforting classics like chicken & waffles and shrimp & grits, all served up in a laidback, welcoming space that's perfect for gathering with friends and family.

The ambiance is so nice. The decor is beautiful. We've sat inside and outside and totally love the vibe here! The food is so delicious! Today, we had brunch that included pancakes, chicken & waffles, and the Poogan's Dog Bowl. Wow!!! So, so good. The hash browns have a unique and amazing taste too! We splurged in our calorie department and ordered the banana pudding to share, and what a good choice that was! Maybe the best that I've ever had. This place makes us want to come back to Summerville over and over, and we definitely will do just that.

As a chef for 15 years, I have to say we were blown away. To say the food was astonishing is an understatement. The biscuits and gravy were spot on. The decor is a well-mixed blend of vintage fashion and a modern, relaxed, friendly environment. The staff was on point from when we walked in to being served, and the food runner couldn’t have been kinder. Bravo all around. I have to recommend to any who visit to try the fried green tomatoes. It was by far the most superb dish I have had in many years. The layers of flavor were so well mixed. Truly a five-star dish.
